HARTFORD Church of England High School head teacher Mike Holland has expressed his delight at the “excellent” GCSE results achieved by his students.

Some 70 per cent gained five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths, with 83 per cent gaining five A* to C grades.

The highest overall achievers were Jack Molloy, Daniel Treacher, Claire Stancombe and Rebecca Marshall, who all achieved 12 or more A/A* grades.

In addition another 10 students achieved eight or more A/A* grades – Harriet Anderson, Emma Carnell, Christopher Corradine, Jessica Everall, Ellen Fielding, Hannah Fielding, Lydia Greensmith, Maisie Lister, Lauren Moss and Thomas Whittle.

“We are delighted with these results – which are due to the hard work and dedication of students and colleagues, as well as the support of parents,” said Mr Holland.

“Eighty-one per cent of our students achieved A* to C grades in English and 74 per cent did so in mathematics, both outstripping national averages by 20 per cent and 12 per cent respectively.

“Pupils in geography, religious studies, ICT and modern foreign languages have performed exceptionally well this year, and the performance of our students in the English Baccalaureate is outstanding.

“We are very proud of these achievements, and the students must be commended for their efforts; I know how hard they have worked during their time here, and it is essential that politicians at national level give our young people credit where it is due.

“This really is a wonderful set of results for our pupils.”
