A FOUR-year-old boy from Northwich has boosted Chester Zoo’s fight to help save orangutans by raising £60 all by himself.

Bradley Driver was so worried about the plight of critically endangered orangutans in Borneo that he decided he wanted to do something to help.

Bradley and his parents, Sara and Colin Driver, of Chapel Street, Wincham, have a family membership at Chester Zoo.

Sara said: “As yearly members, we receive the zoo’s quarterly news magazine and when Bradley saw the article in it about orangutans and how their habitat has been destroyed he was really upset.

"He told me he had decided he wanted to give his £10 pocket money to the zoo’s Go Orange for Orangutans 2014 appeal.”

The goal of the appeal is to raise £15,000 to replant a key area of forestry where orangutans live in the wild in Sabah, Borneo.

The youngster has just started his first year at Hartford Primary School but was only at pre-school when he began his fundraising effort.

Chester Zoo development manager, Melanie Cowieson, said: “This is such a fantastic effort by Bradley. For someone of his age to raise so much, is wonderful. We cannot thank him enough.”
