VILLAGERS are being invited to a show for all the family which “could grace The West End.”

What The Dickens? is being brought to Wincham on Saturday, November 1, by Gonzo Moose Theatre Company.

The comedy is being staged at Wincham Community Centre, and is billed as “brimming with unfeasibly quick costume changes, stupidly surreal characters and wonderfully daft jokes”.

The show is part of the autumn Cheshire Rural Touring Arts programme, and has been organised by Wincham Parish Council chairman Annie Makepeace.

“We are encouraging people to come and see this extremely professional production, which could easily grace The West End,” said Annie.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a thrilling, subsidised show on your doorstep, and we are very lucky to have this company performing in our community.”

In the show young Charles Dickens is a rookie reporter on the Morning Chronicle, and while investigating the foggy slums of Ye Olde London Towne he accidentally stumbles on a story which could make his fortune.

“The show will appeal to all ages, and you don’t need to know about Dickens,” added Annie.

“It is very visual, with lots of costume changes, and features fabulous wordplay. There will be cabaret seating, and people are welcome to bring their own drinks and picnics.”

Gonzo Moose was formed in the year 2000, and has become renowned for its accessible brand of stage comedy, which combines improvisation, music, physical theatre and clowning.

Tickets are £7.50, the show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available by ringing 01565 734226.
