WINCHAM Parish Council is to hold three meetings a year at Witton Albion Football Club following its success in attracting residents to its first meeting at the club.

The council usually meets at Wincham Community Centre in Church Street, at the northern end of the village.

Last month’s meeting was held at the football club to enable residents from the southern end of Wincham, in particular those in Chapel Street and who cannot drive or do not have a car, to attend.

The meeting was attended by 18 residents, and the council has agreed to hold three meetings at the club for a year before reviewing the switch to judge if it should continue.

The decision was taken despite the additional cost, as a full year’s cost of holding 10 meetings at the community centre is £90, compared with £30 for each meeting at Witton Albion.
