FESTIVE favourites and carols feature in a Christmas concert at Tatton Park.

The Northern Chamber Orchestra is joining forces with Weaverham High School Chamber Choir at the Traditional Christmas Classics on Thursday, December 11.

The concert takes place in the Tenants Hall and features popular classics, festive favourites, carols and seasonal choral works, some sung by Weaverham High School Chamber Choir, conducted by Helen McKenna.

The concert includes Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Grieg’s Praeludium, Holberg Suite, Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze, Shostakovich’s Waltz from the Jazz Suite, Prokofiev’s Troika, and the chance to look around the Christmas Mansion from 7pm and enjoy a warming winter drink and a mince pie as part of the ticket price.

This is the second time the Weaverham choir has performed with the NCO, one of the country’s top chamber orchestras.

David Charlton, head teacher at Weaverham High School, said: “Our previous experience of working with the Northern Chamber Orchestra enabled our students to experience music performance at the highest level.

“I am certain they will again rise to the challenge of working at a professional level with one of the best orchestras in the region, and together will produce what I am sure will be a memorable concert.”

Award-winning Merseyside poet Terry Caffrey will be the announcer for the event, and tickets are available from the NCO box office on 0161 247 2220, Tatton on 01625 374400 and Macclesfield Visitor Centre on 01625 378123.

We are offering two free tickets for the concert, which starts at 8pm, to the first person who rings our office in Northwich on Wednesday morning requesting the tickets. We will pass your details to the organisers.
