PRIMARY school pupil Faith Riley can’t wait for her hair to grow after sacrificing some of her precious locks for charity.

The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Faith, eight, from Sandiway, decided she wanted to support the charity after seeing a story about a similar fundraiser for the organisation in the Northwich Guardian.

Faith’s long hair had not been cut for a number of years, but she took the plunge to have 12 inches cut off to help children with cancer.

She is sporting a new shoulder-length style this week after undergoing the chop on Saturday at The Studio hair salon in Mere Lane, Sandiway.

The hair she sacrificed was plaited, and will be sent off to the charity to be used in the creation of a wig.

Faith attends Cuddington Primary School, and raised £200 in donations from family and friends after setting up a justgiving page, Faith’s Big Haircut, to support her fundraising.

There to watch Faith lose her locks was her mum Caroline and her parents Gill and Dennis Riley.

“She had not had her hair cut for a few years, and she has never had it that short,” said Caroline.

“She was not expecting it to be that short. She was a bit taken aback at first, and was apprehensive about going to school if people did not like it.

“She cannot wait for it to grow back again, although I think it’s really nice. It really suits her, and makes her look really grown up.

“I was quite surprised when she said she was going to get it cut, as she likes her long hair, and I’m really proud of what she’s done for the charity.

“I would like to thank Sarah Cooney, who did a brilliant job on Faith’s hair, and Emma Oleszszuk who owns the salon, for doing it for free.

“The Studio also plays a big part in the community with their own regular fundraisers, and recently raised £507 with a Macmillan coffee morning.”
