SCHOOLCHILDREN have been tucking into a hamper after opening a new-look Co-operative Food Store.

The store in Middlewich Road, Rudheath, has been transformed following a £355,000 investment.

The in-store bakery has been increased, and there are extended ranges of fresh produce, ready meals and pizzas.

The store was re-opened by pupils from Rudheath Primary Academy, who received a hamper packed with treats and vouchers for the store.

“We were delighted to be invited to the opening of the new Co-operative,” said head teacher Andrew Ross.

“Just like the Co-operative works with the local community we are keen to work with our community to raise the profile of Rudheath Primary Academy and to show off the fantastic work which goes on in each class every day.

“If anyone would like to have a look round our school please ring the school to arrange an appointment with me.”

Mr Ross is the school’s new head teacher, and has been teaching for 17 years in schools across the north west, ranging from inner-city schools such as Claremont in Moss Side, Manchester, to more rural schools.

In 2010 he became the head teacher at a primary school in Nantwich.

Store manager Rachel Stanway said: “I’m sure our customers will enjoy shopping in the new environment, which will provide them with a convenient location to pick up everything they need to create inspirational and tasty meals.”
