A DRIVER is in a critical but stable condition following a crash between a car and a lorry in Northwich on Friday.
Witnesses are being urged to come forward after the collision, which happened on the A556 between its junctions with Ascol Drive and Linnards Lane.
The crash involved a black Audi saloon and a red IVECO light goods vehicle and happened at around 1.30pm.
At the time of the collision the driver of the Audi was travelling towards Manchester on the eastbound carriageway and the IVECO rigid LGV was travelling westbound towards Northwich.
Following the collision the driver of the Audi, a 42-year-old man from the Manchester area, was cut free from his vehicle and transported by air ambulance to North Staffordshire Hospital, where his condition was described as critical but stable.
