PERFORMERS from Northwich triumphed in a competition to find the dancer of the year.

Quicksteps School of Dance was one of 24 dance schools from the UK and Ireland who competed in the Dancer of the Year festival in County Mayo, in Ireland.

Each member of the group of 11 Quicksteps dancers made it to the final in at least one event and 13-year-old Iffan Roberts made history when he won the Dancer of the Year title in the senior boys freestyle section.

He was the first winner from the UK and was presented with two trophies, an iPad and free admission to competitions and festivals run by Dance Supreme for a year.

James Defty won the under 12 street/hip hop section and rock 'n' roll section with his partner Charley Johnson and Olivia Musgrave won the under 16s beginner slow section.

Sarah Hobbs, who owns Quicksteps, said: "All the teachers at Quicksteps are really proud of the dancers' achievements.

"They would also like to praise their behaviour and representation of Quicksteps school of dancing."
