ST Nicholas Catholic High School student Rhys Nevin is a 16-year-old with a talent for golf.

Currently playing off a +1.2 handicap, he has been selected for the England under-18s 10-man squad, and his European ranking is ninth in the under-16s.

Rhys has played golf for Cheshire Boys for five years and last season was captain of the north west under-16 squad.

His most impressive achievement to date has been his participation in the Daily Telegraph BMW under-18 Junior Championships in Portugal, in which he came second.

“His passion and commitment to the sport has led Rhys to represent England in international competitions in Germany and Italy,” said the school.

“As a good sportsman, Rhys is always aiming to make progress, so his goals for next year include improving his handicap to +3, securing a top five under-18 European ranking and winning at least one national championship.”
