RESIDENTS old and new can find out what Winnington has to offer at an event on Tuesday, December 2.

Representatives from sport and social clubs, schools and nurseries will be on hand at the What's On in Winnington Event, which takes place at Winnington Park Recreation Club, in Park Road.

St Luke's Church, based at the former library building at the club, and Friendly Gym,which has converted the club's former sports bar into a state-of-the-art ladies' gym, will also be available, as well as Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire West and Chester Council and local councillors.

Nick Hughes, director at Winnington Park Recreation Club, said: "With all of the new houses being built as part of the Winnington Urban Village, the event is a chance for residents, both new and old, to find out what Winnington has to offer."

Winnington is one of the most historic parts of Northwich, with 16th century Winnington Hall, 17th century Battle of Winnington Bridge, the final battle of the English Civil War, the establishment of Brunner Mond in the 19th century, the discovery of polythene in the 20th century, and the massive expansion of housing with the Winnington Urban Village in the 21st century.

Free refreshments will be available at the event, which takes place from 5pm to 7pm.
