A BEACON of Christmas joy is shining in Rudheath thanks to a man that just wants to give something back.

Simon Ashbrook has created a house of lights at his home in Farm Road in memory of lost loved ones and to bring smiles to children's faces.

"The house of lights in Rudheath is for all the loved ones of Rudheath that have passed over," Simon said.

"Plus I like doing it to bring Christmas to the community."

Simon, who works as a gravedigger for Northwich Town Council, has festooned his house with 1,200 LED lights and 204ft of cable lights as well as an illuminated Frosty the Snowman, reindeer and even The Simpsons.

This year he has added a 15ft Christmas tree to his display, thanks to a friend who works as a sweeper for Cheshire West and Chester Council.

"Jacko, one of the lads from Cheshire West, donated the tree," Simon said.

"I want to say a big thank you to him.

"It's nice that other people are getting involved."

It took Simon two days to complete his illuminated wonderland, which was switched on by Cheshire West and Chester councillor Tony Lawrenson, from the Witton and Rudheath ward.

"It's worth it," Simon said.

"The kids love it.

"You can see them going past and having a little peep in and they're allowed to come up the drive and have a look."
