A CHRISTMAS couple have ditched their usual form of transport in favour of the waterways in the run up to the big day this year.
Santa and Mrs Claus have been crewing the Edwin Clark trip boat for festive cruises along the River Weaver every weekend in December.
The couple have joined forces with the Canal and River Trust and Anderton Boat Lift to put on their Santa Cruises.
Graham Wood, duty manager at the Anderton Boat Lift, said: “Canals and rivers have the potential to enrich the lives of families and allow parents to spend real quality time with their children. "Our Christmas cruise is the perfect way to start your festive fun.”
Santa and Mrs Claus have been telling stories and organising activities on the 50-minute trips as well as dispensing good cheer to all and giving early gifts to children.
