VILLAGERS concerned about the speed of traffic in Wincham are being encouraged to take photographs for a road safety campaign.

The campaign is the initiative of local residents Christophe Cenac, Carl Bridge and Sarah Henshall, who are looking to tackle the issues of road safety, litter and dog fouling in the village.

The residents have children at the local primary school, and have joined forces to improve life in the village.

They are asking residents for suggestions on how to make Wincham’s roads safer, and for their ideas on tackling the problem of dog mess.

They also want to improve the cycling experience for people in the village.

“We are trying to promote road safety, cleanliness and tidiness in the village,” said Christophe.

“We would like people to tell us about their road safety concerns, such as cars parking on pavements or the speed of vehicles through the village, in particular near the school.

“If residents have concerns they can take pictures and email them to us or post them to our Facebook page, because the more we know about what is going the better, as we can then target a specific initiative.

“The aim of what we are doing is to improve things where we can, and to increase the sense of community spirit in Wincham.”

One of the suggestions from local residents is for a 20 miles an hour speed limit near Wincham Community Primary School at the start of the school day and when pupils leave in the afternoon.

Christophe and his fellow residents are aiming to put together a series of suggestions and proposals, based on feedback from local people, to put before Wincham Parish Council or Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Another idea being mooted is to organise a survey across the village to identify the scale of the problem of dog fouling.

“We intend to mark the dog mess to make it more obvious and to make people aware of the areas where it is a problem,” said Christophe.
