A SECOND call is going out for more volunteers to help at Northwich's heritage attractions.

Weaver Hall Museum, in London Road, and the soon-to-be-opened Lion Salt Works, in Ollershaw Lane, need people to help out both front of house and behind the scenes.

An informal drop-in event for potential volunteers saw 22 people sign up earlier in December and a second information event will take place in January.

Clr Stuart Parker, Cheshire West and Chester Council's executive member for culture and economy, said: “Our first volunteering information event was a great success and I would like to thank everyone who came along.

“In order to reach as many people as possible, we have scheduled a second information event for a Saturday for people who may be busy during the week.

“It is an opportunity for people to meet with members of staff and volunteers and to hear about exciting opportunities at both museums over a cup of tea.

“We would like to hear from people of all ages and from all backgrounds, regardless of how much time you might be able to spare.

“We can offer full training and a rewarding experience that is a great way to meet new people and learn new skills while helping to bring Northwich’s rich history to life.”

Volunteering opportunities include helping with special events, guided tours, gardening and research, among others.

The information event takes place at Weaver Hall Museum at 11am on January 10.

Anyone who would like to attend the volunteering meeting at is asked to email lorna.kernahan@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk by Friday, January 9.
