MUM Rebecca Lummis wants to pass on the secrets of losing weight to others after shedding more than four stones.

Rebecca joined her Winsford Slimming World group when she was five months pregnant, and since becoming a mum has also become a Slimming World consultant, launching a group at Lostock Gralam.

Rebecca, from Cuddington, said: “I was struggling with my weight, and when I learned I was pregnant my midwife talked to me about the risks I faced with being overweight.

“She explained that gaining extra weight put mine and my baby’s health at increased risk, and I was more likely to develop conditions like high blood pressure and gestational diabetes.

“She advised that while losing weight during pregnancy wasn’t recommended, managing my weight by avoiding gaining a lot of excess weight would help to avoid complications.

“I looked online at what support was available and read about Slimming World’s and how it supports women throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding. I was desperate not to gain any more weight and to be as healthy as possible when my baby was born.

“Slimming World has changed the way that I think about food, and it was wonderful to get the support to know I was making the best choices to manage my weight healthily throughout my pregnancy.

After giving birth to Ronnie, the new mum found that her weight quickly began to drop off.

“Since having Ronnie I’ve now lost four and a half stones,” said Rebecca.

“It was great because I knew that by managing my weight throughout my pregnancy I’d have less to lose afterwards.

“We eat so much more healthily as a family now, and everyone is really enjoying it. I feel I’m giving my daughter the best start in life.

“On top of that I’ve got a new career as a Slimming World consultant. As a slimmer I know how hard it can be, and couldn’t have lost four stones without my consultant and my group.

“Sharing recipes and other ideas and overcoming disappointments as well as celebrating success was all part of the journey, so there’ll be lots of support, encouragement and fun at my group.”

Rebecca’s group starts next week at Lostock Gralam Community Centre, and will take place every Tuesday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
