A PACKED programme of events has been organised to help share some love in Northwich town centre this Valentine's weekend.

The Hearts of Northwich Community Festival will see St Helen's Church transformed into a paradise of goodness and entertainment.

Gordon Atkinson, one of the event organisers, said: "People should come to celebrate all the good things that happen in Northwich and because it's going to be a nice weekend.

"The festival starts on Saturday, February 14, with exhibitions from the town's charities and community groups, music from Steamhead and Pastry Shoes, light refreshments and crafts, face painting and balloon modelling for children."

This takes place from 10am to 3.30pm and admission is free. Charities will be exhibiting their work but not asking for donations.

"It's all about having a good day for the community, sharing and celebrating what these charities and organisations do and having a good time," Gordon said.

"It's as simple as the community coming together for a good day out."

At 6.30pm on Saturday, February 14, the church doors will open again for a concert from the Caernarfon Male Voice Choir, which starts at 7.30pm.

Gordon said: "They're a top choir and it will be awesome in the church. "Tickets are limited to 250 – we've restricted them so that everyone who comes will have the best experience."

Tickets are £10, which includes a glass of wine or fruit juice. On Sunday, February 15, the church has organised a Songs of Praise event, led by the Rev Alison Harris with Bostock Band and church organist David Nangreave.

Gordon said: "This is the culmination of the weekend and it's a good chance to get together and have a sing.

"The important thing is that it's open to the community to come and share in the songs of praise."

The raffle, which has been supported by Northwich businesses, will be drawn during the concert on Saturday.
