A RESIDENT is calling on her parish council to fight a housing development until the first brick is laid.

Margaret Newton, of Beehive Lane, appealed to Moulton Parish Council to keep raising issues of concern about the 148-house plans for land off Barnside Way.

The proposal for the houses was first put forward by Richborough Estates and turned down by Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning committee before winning consent after an appeal.

Plans have now been taken on by Bovis Homes, which will construct the new estate.

Residents have been concerned about the waterlogged state of the land and the impact on Beehive Lane, which will be used as access by construction traffic.

Speaking at the latest parish council meeting Mrs Newton said she and her neighbours had consulted a solicitor about their drainage and easement rights on the lane, which require them to have access, and they are concerned about the impact of lopping branches off the trees up to 6m above the road to allow vehicles through.

Moulton Parish Council has met with representatives from Bovis and won some alterations to the plans in line with concerns, including safer 'swales' to contain excess surface water and repositioning family homes in relation to the swales.

Phil Sanders, parish clerk, said: "Bovis are keen to work with the parish council and residents throughout to identify and solve problems that arise."

Mrs Newton said: "We have still got to fight them with every fibre of our being until that first brick is put down."

Mr Sanders said issues had been raised in relation to every set of plans and each hearing.

"We can't go any further," he said.

"I foresee problems in exactly the same way you do but we've gone through the planning process, our objections have been noted but overridden.

"The Environment Agency have their input and if I was looking at that I would say they're the experts, not the parish council."

Mrs Newton said: "I still expect you to say 'you've taken no notice of us but we still tell you the swales wouldn't work, I would expect you to continue doing that."
