LOSTOCK will be rocking to the sounds of This is Turin and Synapse this summer as a popular music festival returns.

The Northwich outfits are two of the 25 bands which are to perform at the two-day rock and metal festival at Lostock Sports and Social Club in July.

The Lostock Music Festival is being masterminded by Mik Matzen from Leftwich, who staged a festival at the same venue last year featuring a similar number of bands.

This year’s festival takes place on July 25 and 26, with This is Turin headlining on the Sunday, with Synapse the main support and Warlord headlining on the Saturday.

Admission to the festival is free, with all the bands playing for free, and the event will run from midday to midnight on the Saturday and until about 9pm on the Sunday.

“Last year’s festival was a great success, and we got a lot of really good feedback,” said Mik.

“The bands loved playing it, and while some of the bands will be returning most of the line-up is new this year.

“I want to build a music scene round here, and I am aiming to run the festival every year.”

Although the festival is free, donations are invited, and last year’s event raised more than £200 for Rays of Sunshine, a charity which seeks to brighten the lives of children with serious or life-limiting illnesses.

This year’s festival is raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which supports teenagers battling the disease.

Among the bands which are performing in July are Skeletal Damage from Middlewich, and Consortium, a member of which comes from Northwich.

The sets by the bands will last for about 30 minutes, and they will perform in the Rumours nightclub at the social club, with camping available in an adjacent field.

“The bands playing at the festival come from the north west and the Midlands, and the audience last year was across the board in terms of age, from teenagers to people in their 60s and 70s,” said Mik.
