THEATRE fans are being offered an opportunity to see an international company perform in Northwich.

Canadian company Theatre Newfoundland Labrador will present ‘With Cruel Times in Between’ at Weaver Hall Museum, in London Road, on Saturday, April 25, at 7.30pm.

The production is described as a lyrical and beautiful portrait of Newfoundland culture as painted by the rhythmic writings of one of Newfoundland’s most beloved poets, Al Pittman.

It uses selections from his poems, prose, songs and plays to demonstrate the culture of island life.

The cast of six take the audience back to the turn of the last century, sharing the nostalgic and tender human stories of pioneering lives, growing up in an era of hardships and strong communities, of childhoods dominated by the weather and landscape and of relinquishing a way of life in the face of ‘progress’.

‘With Cruel Times in Between’ is presented through Cheshire Rural Touring Arts.

Katherine West, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s arts and museums manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see an international company perform locally in the intimate setting of Weaver Hall Museum.

“It has been made possible thanks to an exciting new partnership between the council’s museums service and Cheshire Rural Touring Arts, and we look forward to hosting future productions at both Weaver Hall Museum and the soon-to-be-opened Lion Salt Works.”
