TALENTED young performer Kat Humphrey has won a place at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.
Kat, a lower sixth student at Sir John Deane’s College, beat off competition from thousands of other hopefuls during a challenging audition process.
The former Kings School pupil, who studies French, English literature, performing arts and theatre studies, will spend two weeks over the summer in London, training with a professional director and young actors from across the country.
On completing the training programme Kat will be eligible to audition for productions within the company.
Rebeccah Homer, theatre studies tutor at Sir John Deane’s College, said: “Kat is a talented young actor who has demonstrated her passion for performing within lessons, as well as through involvement with extra-curricular events within college.
“I am delighted to hear that she has secured this opportunity to develop her skills further.”
The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain is a world-leading youth arts organisation, and famous alumni include Daniel Craig, Colin Firth, Helen Mirren, Hugh Bonneville and Catherine Tate.
Head of performing arts, Alison Richards, added: “We are delighted with Kat’s fantastic achievement. She is a wonderful performer who seizes every opportunity to develop her talent and deserves every success.”
