AN ABUSED puppy has been recovered by Northwich Police and is now safe in the care of the RSPCA.
In the early hours of Monday May 11, police received reports of a dog being mistreated by a male in Northwich Town Centre.
A local man and woman both in their mid 20s were apprehended by police officers shortly after.
The dog, a young ‘staffie’ cross puppy was seized from the couple, who were both under the influence of alcohol.
After spending the night with one of the Middlewich Detention Officers, the puppy has now been taken into RSPCA care.
Due to the puppy’s young age and good-nature, the RSPCA have reported that he should be easily re-homed.
For any information about the mistreatment of an animal, call RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 or alternatively call Cheshire Constabulary non-emergency hotline 101.
