MAD scientists will prove to be the salt of the earth during a series of half term events in Northwich.

Colin Mann and Phil Robinson will don their lab coats and show families why Northwich is the centre of the Saltiverse at Weaver Hall Museum on May 27 and 28.

The duo will show people how to make their own white salt from a lump of Northwich rock in an activity that will run every hour from 10.30am.

Visitors can find out about the effect of salt making on Northwich and make their own row of subsiding houses.

They can also try their hand at barge art colouring.

The museum, run by Cheshire West and Chester Council, is in London Road, in Northwich.

Admission is £1.50 per child.
