KIND-HEARTED youngster Tamsyn Lawrence-Hardinge received a royal thankyou for her special birthday card.

Tamsyn is in year four at Cransley School, and created a card for The Queen for the monarch’s 89th birthday.

She sent it off to Buckingham Palace, and was delighted to receive a letter of thanks from the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting.

“When having a ‘quiet’ day Tamsyn decided to create a birthday card for Her Majesty in her crown using felt tip pens,” said the school.

“This is a tradition that runs in the family, as Tamsyn’s mother and grandmother also did the same thing.

“She was delighted to receive a letter of thanks from The Palace and shared the letter with her headmaster and fellow pupils.”

The letter from Lady-in-Waiting Annabel Whitehead said: “The Queen wishes me to thank you for the lovely handmade card which you sent on the occasion of Her Majesty’s 89th birthday.

“The Queen is most grateful for your kind message, and I am to thank you, very much, for your thoughtfulness in writing to Her Majesty at this time.”

Gun salutes were fired in London's Hyde Park in London to mark the Queen's 89th birthday.

The monarch celebrated the occasion privately at Windsor Castle, and in her honour, the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery staged a 41-gun royal salute in full dress uniform.

The salute was followed by a selection of celebratory music from the Band of the Royal Artillery.
