FIVE women emerged unscathed but caked from head to toe in mud after taking on a series of fun challenges.

The five-strong team from Northwich Vets tackled numerous obstacles in the sell-out Pretty Muddy 5k at Tatton Park.

The women took on tunnels and hurdles in the rain on the way to raising more than £700 for Cancer Research UK.

The three-mile obstacle course ended with a large inflatable slide, with a mud pool at the bottom.

The Northwich Vets team consisted of receptionist Emma Cooper, vet Ruth Taylor, nurses Jen Biscoe and Jane Murphy and trainee nurse Vicky Sutton.

The women set out to raise £500, but smashed their target, and thanked everyone, including Northwich Vets clients, who sponsored them.

“We felt it was important to help such an important cause, and not only did we have a great day but raised more than £700,” said Emma.

“Everyone had a great time, and there were lots of laughs. “Jane does lots of running, but it was more difficult for the rest of us, and Ruth ran without shoes because she had blisters.

“We wanted to get muddy and raise money for Cancer Research UK, and will definitely do it again.”

The event was dubbed as an obstacle course ‘where you can show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.’

It was sold out, and due to demand an extra date in September will be opening for registrations very soon.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients who sponsored us,” said Emma.

Women of all abilities took part in the course, either jogging or walking, and groups set off in waves 15 minutes apart because of the number taking part to make sure everyone on the course was safe.

Those who jogged completed the course in about 40 minutes, and an hour for walkers, although the event was not competitive so there was no pressure to finish in a certain time.

Northwich Vets is an independent veterinary practice based in Lostock Gralam, and the money was raised through a justgiving page.
