BIG-HEARTED pupil Aleyna Caliskan has received a certificate to thank her for support for the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal.

Aleyna is in year five at Charles Darwin Community Primary School in Northwich, and collected £11.54 for the appeal as part of the school’s collection for the appeal, which totalled £171.82.

She received a ‘thankyou certificate’ at the school from Marshall Hunter, the chairman of the Northwich branch of the Royal British Leigon and the group’s poppy appeal organiser.

Mr Hunter visited the school to thank Aleyna and the school for its support for the appeal.

“Schools are a great support to the poppy appeal, and for Aleyna to raise money for the appeal separately is fantastic.

“I would also like to thank the school for the excellent total it raised for the appeal.”

Aleyna’s mum Aysha is a teaching assistant at the school.

The annual poppy appeal in Northwich runs from October to September, and this year’s total currently stands at £25,631, which is already 20 per cent up on last year’s figure.
