A MEETING will be held for Davenham's youth groups to say what facilities they need in the village.

Davenham Parish Council has organised the meeting, which takes place at Davenham CE Primary School on Thursday, July 9.

Cllr Katie Mattinson, council chairman, said: "The premise of the meeting will be that it's a fact finding mission to find out what people want.

"We know what the Scouts want and we know other groups don't agree and we need the overall picture for the neighbourhood plan.

"We propose to find out what these groups need, we want to hear the thoughts and opinions of a number of groups."

The meeting follows a proposal by 1st Davenham Scouts to use part of council-owned Butchers Stile field to build a hall with a badminton court, changing rooms for the football club and parking for 50 cars, leaving space for a full sized football pitch and two smaller ones.

Cllr Mattinson said: "We are getting told different things by different groups so this is a chance to bring it all together and discuss it in some kind of order in one place.

"Unless groups get to hear what other groups think they will continue it's just us as the parish council and it's not just us – we are trying to act on behalf of the whole community."

The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
