A MAN is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while he changed a wheel on the A556 in Northwich on Sunday.

The family of Garry Dooley have thanked the community for their good wishes after the crash, which happened by Davenham Roundabout, on the eastbound lane of the dual carriageway.

Hayley Jones, sister to Garry's girlfriend Natalie Parkinson, said: "He's in critical condition and has a long road ahead of him but fingers crossed.

"Natalie is grateful for everyone's get well soon wishes and how worried people have been for him."

Emergency services were called to the incident at 7.24pm on Sunday.

It involved a Jaguar XJ6, driven by a 25-year-old man from Northich, and Garry's Vauxhall Astra.

Garry, 43, from Newton-Le-Willows, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment to serious injuries.

Two children, aged 9 and 11, who were in the Vauxhall at the time of the incident, were uninjured but taken to Leighton Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Jaguar was left shaken but uninjured.

Witnesses who might have seen either vehicle before the collision are asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 833 of July 26, 2015.
