MUSIC fans are in for a funky, fun evening at Wincham in November.

The community centre is playing host to Holy Moly and The Crackers, a seven-piece gypsy folk’n’roll band from Newcastle.

The Cheshire Rural Touring Arts concert is being staged by Wincham Village People on Saturday, November 21.

“They are very talented young musicians, and Wincham is lucky to get them,” said Annie Makepeace from Wincham Village People.

“It is the first performance of this type that we have put on, and the band have a very high reputation.

“Our aim is to find things that will bring entertainment to villagers, as well as trying to promote live music, arts and culture.”

Tickets for the evening, which starts at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 7pm, are £8 and are available by ringing Annie on 01565 734226 or from DAN.

Holy Moly and The Crackers released their debut album, First Avenue, in 2012.

The band say their newest single, A Punk Called Peter, is “a sort of New Orleans funeral march mixed with some fine and highly danceable reggae”.

They have played well over 200 shows throughout the UK, and have performed at major festivals across the country, including Hop Farm Festival and Cornbury Festival.

The band describe themselves as playing a “unique mash-up of folk/blues, waltz tempos and hoe-downs and french zazou in outlandish carnival style - it is loud, funky and fun”.

You can see them perform on You Tube.
