RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on ways to improve life in Rudheath and Witton.

The communities have £1 million of Big Lottery Fund cash to spend on projects, and are invited to have their say on ideas of how to use it by completing a survey.

The ideas originated from a Community Summit in July, and have been developed with residents and partners into five project themes which the Rudheath and Witton Big Local Board think fit the bill.

The ideas include the following – Developing a project that will help people into new and better jobs.

Setting up a youth committee so young people have a voice in the area.

Employing a local person dedicated to running community events.

Supporting small community groups to form and flourish, such as a local choir or arts groups.

Buying a vehicle which can be used to host activities throughout the area.

Richard Thresh, chairman of the Rudheath and Witton Big Local Board, said: “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create something in Rudheath and Witton that has a lasting legacy.

“This money can really make a difference, but it’s vital that we deliver what local people want.

“Spending a minute filling in a survey means you are helping make the decisions on how to spend £1 million on your community.”

Views can be given by visiting the Rudheath and Witton Together website or its Facebook page, and everyone who takes part in the survey will be entered into a prize draw.

A series of community consultation events are being organised by Weaver Vale Housing Trust on behalf of RAW, starting with a market and fun day at Rudheath Leisure Centre on the afternoon of October 11.

To take the survey go to survey.monkey.com/s/99LLX55 or find it on rudheathandwitton.org.uk.

Investing the £1 million in the community is the responsibility of The Rudheath and Witton Big Local Board, which is a group of volunteers who live and work in the area and want to improve their community now and in the future.
