ALDI is offering schools across the UK the chance to win their own wildlife garden thanks to a new scheme with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds,

As part of Aldi’s 25th anniversary celebrations, they are offering the opportunity for schools to compete for one of 25 RSPB ‘Giving Nature a Home’ gardens.

Each garden is worth in excess of £500, allowing school children to create their very own wildlife-friendly reserve and each kit comes with a pond, shrubs, plants, wildlife-friendly seeds and instructions.

Entrants are asked to submit a photo of their school’s outdoor space.

Pupils will need to ask a teacher, parent or guardian to tweet the image using the hashtag ‘#AldiWildlifeWatch’, or upload it via the RSPB app on Aldi’s Facebook page.

Jonathan Neale, joint managing director of corporate Buying at Aldi, said: “Aldi’s partnership with RSPB is a great way for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary in the UK.

“ By gifting 25 nature gardens, we will be supporting the education of a whole generation about British wildlife and to leave a long-lasting legacy in schools across the country.”

Aldi charges 5p for a single use carrier bag and profits across England and Wales have been donated to the RSPB from July 2015.

Martin Harper, the RSPB’s Conservation Director, said: “Our partnership with Aldi will connect more than half a million children with nature by creating RSPB “Giving Nature a Home” Gardens in school grounds and local green spaces. Exciting the next generation about nature is vital to help turn the fortunes of UK wildlife around.”

The competition is open to schools until Sunday October 11.
