DETAILED plans have been submitted for a development of 70 new homes in Moulton.

Miller Homes has put forward the proposals for land between Jack Lane and Anthony Drive.

The development won outline planning permission in the summer and this reserved matters application deals with layout, scale, appearance and landscaping.

Plans include 14 two-bedroom houses, 24 three-bedroom houses, 19 four-bedroom houses, nine five-bedroom houses and four three-bedroom bungalows.

Residents near the site fear that their homes will be overlooked by the new properties and are concerned about an increase in traffic.

They also worry that their houses will be devalued, that there will be an increase in anti-social behaviour and that it erodes the village boundary.

A comment from Mrs J MacKay submitted on the Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) website said: "I ask you to consider not allowing this planning to go through, Moulton is very quickly losing its identity and its boundary and further building is not only not wanted but not necessary."

Mrs D Lambert said: "I have lived in Moulton about 45 years and as with progress anywhere the village has massively grown in size over this time with the large number of homes we have already had built and the infrastructure has not changed with this – we have a school that cannot cope with the children already living here without bringing more and the congestion around the village centre is already dangerous."

Moulton Parish Council has written to CWAC to question the location of the play area, which it feels is too close to the junction with Jack Lane, to ask for more definite road ends on the internal road system and to note that street furniture should be in keeping with the village.

The council also asks whether covered cycle parking areas are of benefit to houses without a garage, said there are poor sightlines on the plan and says that the development's name of Weaver Grange is causing confusion because it is an existing road name in the village.
