A SHOPPING phenomenon will help a Northwich charity as well as spreading Christmas spirit.

Black Friday, on November 27, will be turned into a community fundraiser for The Joshua Tree at B&M Northwich, complete with carol singing and bag packing.

Volunteers from the charity will be helping customers with their Christmas shopping on the evening with carol singing, help with bag packing and carrying shopping to cars.

B&M store manager Phil Flaherty is anticipating crowds of customers as shoppers will also receive a further 10 per cent discount on all sales from 5pm on the busiest night of shopping of the year.

Phil said: "It will be a fun filled festive evening for both customers and ourselves and we look forward to welcoming The Joshua Tree team to join us on Friday and hopefully we can make a big difference to the charity’s Christmas fundraising too."

Following Black Friday and the online shopping day Cyber Monday, The Joshua Tree will take part in the global charity campaign #GivingTuesday on December 1.

The charity is asking supporters to give a Hi-10 hand wave and share it on their social media pages.

Peter Smith, from The Joshua Tree, said: "#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving.

"After the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday on December 1 is an opportunity to come together to show the world why it’s good to give.

"We'd love people to 'give' us a picture of them giving us a woolley glove 'high ten' as we start celebrating our 10th anniversary."

Supporters are being encourage to share their #HIGH10FORTJT pictures on the charity’s Facebook and Twitter pages and donate £1 via texting TJTG01 £1 to 70070.
