TORRENTIAL rain failed to dampen the spirits of the community during a summer fayre as part of National Care Home Open Day.

Residents and staff at Crossways in Lostock Gralam opened their doors to the public on Friday, June 17.

National Care Home Open Day is an annual event that sees care homes across the country welcome the community to come and find out about life in a care home.

In keeping with this year's theme of 'celebration', the home was decorated with bunting and balloons, and visitors were treated to afternoon tea and live entertainment.

And not letting the heavy rain dampen proceedings, staff and residents at Crossways invited the public to enjoy a number of classic fayre stalls, including a tombola raffle and a homemade cake stand.

Paul Bowman, Crossways home manager, said: “We had a great turn-out to our summer fayre, and both residents and visitors to the home thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations.

“The event was a great way to show the public just one of the many varied activities and events we hold for our residents throughout the year, and I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success.”
