STUDENTS at The University of Chester Academy Northwich (UCAN) are raising money to create a ‘living memorial’ to teenager Lauren Lelonek.

The 16-year-old from Rudheath, who was found dead at her home on June 10, was a pupil at UCAN and previously Rudheath Primary Academy.

“A number of UCAN students and staff will attend Lauren’s funeral and in addition, UCAN will hold a special service at the academy on Friday afternoon for the rest of the students and staff. This service will be led by Reverend Brian Harris,” said a UCAN spokesman.

“A book of condolence has been set up and special assemblies have been held.

“Children have worked really hard, and have raised £450 so far, which will be used to set up a living memorial to Lauren. Pupils are working together to decide what that memorial will be.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain for Lauren, her grieving family and her friends, who miss her greatly.”

Hundreds of residents took part in a walk around Rudheath on Saturday to show their support for Lauren’s family.

Children dressed in blue at Rudheath Primary Academy to celebrate Lauren’s life, raising £376 for her family in the process.

Teenagers packed into the Witton Club on Friday for an under-18s night in memory of Lauren, and an anti-bullying awareness evening is being staged at Northwich Memorial Court on Saturday, July 16.
