VILLAGERS have been thanked for ignoring the persistent drizzle to support Charlotte Green’s big day.

Charlotte was crowned as the Sunday School Queen at the Lostock Green Methodist Church village fete.

The six-year-old was crowned by John Hardman, the chairman of Lach Dennis Parish Council, following the procession from the church to the village playing field.

Fete organiser Mary Savage thanked everyone who came along to support the event despite the poor unseasonal weather.

“It was drizzling for part of the afternoon, but despite that we had a good turnout and raised about £1,400 towards the renovations at the church,” she said.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped with the setting up and clearing away, and those who attended the event.”

The procession included the retinue and visiting queens, the fete featured a performance by Barnton Silver Band, and the money was raised through stalls, games and donations.
