COMBERBACH artist Ron Stephens won the Northwich Art Trail’s top award with his intricate pen and wash drawing entitled ‘Witton Street 1’.

The competition attracted 120 pieces of art from 40 artists, which was displayed in 30 shop windows throughout the town.

The trail was organised by Visual Arts Cheshire (VAC), and the art works were viewed and judged by Emma Knight, arts development officer at Cheshire West and Chester Council.

In addition to the exhibits in the shop windows there were more in the temporary VAC gallery in Brunner Court to be judged.

Phil Bower from Northwich Art Shop donated the prizes, and Ron’s picture is displayed with three other Art Trail exhibits in Phil’s shop window until the end of July.

Pick up a trail leaflet from there, the library, the Information Centre or the VAC Gallery near the library.

The runner-up was Jo Wright’s linocut ‘Spring Cometh to Ordsall’, which can be seen in the laundry opposite the library.

Emma identified a shortlist of eight exhibits, which have been labelled for people to note as they walk the trail.

Most of the exhibits, including some ceramics and photography, are by artists from Northwich and the surrounding area. All of them are for sale.
