TAKE That fans are in for a treat at the Anderton Boat Lift.

The boat lift is playing host to a Summer Music Festival featuring top acts including leading Take That tribute band ‘Rule The World’, which won The National Tribute Award 2016 recently.

The festival runs from Friday, August 12 to Saturday, August 20, and includes the big band sound of seven-piece Crewe and Sandbach-based band, ‘Platform 7’, including its three female saxophonists.

Top hits of the 70s and 80s, including music from The Jam and The Cure, will be performed live by Crewe-based band, ‘The Start’, and the festival will end with Madness songs from ‘Los Palmas 6’.

The band is the leading Madness tribute band, and features Steve Turner, who was with Madness for eight years on saxophone.

A bar will be available each night in the Lift View Marquee, along with food from the kitchens of the tree-top coffee shop.

The festival line-up is as follows - Friday, August 12 – Rule the World; Saturday, August 13 – Platform 7; Friday, August 19 – The Start; Saturday, August 20 – Los Palmas 6.

Dan Maines, who sings as Gary Barlow with ‘Rule the World’ said: “We have been endorsed by Take That, which is the highest accolade for a tribute band, but it feels very good to have just won the National Tribute Awards 2016 too.

“The biggest kick we get is to play to delighted Take That fans, who say we sound like the original - and sometimes better!”

Tim Turner, Anderton Boat Lift’s general manager, said: “Last year’s festival-goers said that our first Summer Music Festival was something a bit special and magical.

“This has a lot to do with the top acts we book, but is also about the ambience of the Lift and the river setting.

“A night at the Anderton Boat Lift’s Summer Music Festival is a night to remember, and is definitely an event to put in the diary for the summer.”

Tickets can be purchased by calling 01606 786 777 or by visiting the Boat Lift. Doors open for the shows at 6.30pm.
