GIRLGUIDING Cheshire Forest from Sandiway have been acknowledged for their support for Rotary Northwich Vale Royal with the presentation of a cheque.

“The donation was made as recognition for all the hard work Cheshire Forest have contributed to our club as volunteers at the recent Mid Cheshire charity scooter rally and during the Santa street collections last December,” said club president Peter Chapman, who presented a cheque to Guiding Leaders Marina Dancy and Janet Grant.

Neil O’Brien from Hartford has become a member of the club. He was presented with his Rotary badge by Bruce Ursell, who introduced Neil into Rotary, followed by Mr Chapman inducting him into the worldwide family of Rotary.

Neil brings the Rotary Northwich Vale Royal membership up to 41 members.

The latest Rotary Northwich Vale Royal club evening was a presentation entitled ‘From Wrenbury to Rio’ by Geoff Parsons from the Wingate Centre in Wrenbury.

“He gave a very enlightening presentation on the life and works of the Wingate Centre, which offers specialist residential accommodation and recreational activities for children with specialist needs, as well as providing a fabulous gymnasium used by local disability organisations, day centres, individuals and gymnastics clubs,” said Mr Chapman.

The Wingate Centre’s most recent claim to fame is that it is where the 2016 Rio Olympic trampoline silver medallist, Bryony Page, started and trained in her quest to become an Olympic champion.
