ENVIRONMENTAL health officers are looking into the origin of powder which covered Nick Crewdson’s car.

Mr Crewdson lives in Winnington, and believes the powder comes from storage silos he says are being demolished as part of the creation of housing for the Winnington Urban Village.

“There are four storage silos in the process of being demolished,” said Mr Crewdson.

“They are about a quarter of a mile from my house, and my car has been covered twice by a thick powder which formed a hard crust. It was also all over our windows and windowsills.”

Mr Crewdson believes the powder is residual soda ash from the storage silos, and he has had to pay twice to have his car washed to remove it.

He said he was not consulted about the demolition of the silos, and the dust from the work should have been kept to a minimum.

“There has been no notification about the work, and the dust has been a real annoyance,” he added.

Mr Crewdson contacted Cheshire West and Chester Council, and said he had been told his concerns had been passed on to the environmental health department for investigation.
