THE parish council has received a letter from the head of streetscene at Vale Royal Borough Council asking for its views on fly-posting.

At the moment all fly-posting material is removed but the borough council is aware that some social and community events do rely on this type of advertising.

Therefore, it is looking at ways to have dedicated and specific sites in the towns and villages where advertisements will be allowed. The letter goes on to ask for suggestions on suitable sites in Barnton.

Barnton parish chairman Clr Maurice Ferguson said he had no problem with advertising if it was for events in the village and he suggested the end of Stone Heyes Lane.

However, it was pointed out that it was a very bad bend.

Another suggestion was at the bottom of the Chutes where advertisements are sometimes situated .

Parish Clr Angela Robinson suggested outside the memorial hall in Townfield Lane but added that this would need to be checked with the trustees.

It was decided that the parish clerk Roy Garton would make contact to ask for suggested sites and then see if the parish council agreed with them.
