Alessi Indian Restaurant in Stoke named England's best curry house

Residents of Mid Cheshire will be delighted to know they are just a short car journey away from officially the best curry restaurant in the country.

Alessi, near Stoke, claimed top honours at the 2023 English Curry Awards, picking up both the regional and overall prize.

A member of staff at the restaurant near Stoke said: “It’s an incredible achievement for ourselves and for the village of Audley to bring another award to our establishment.

“We always put in 110 per cent and hopefully it shows in our food and service.”

The English Curry Awards, now in their 12th year are hosted by Oceanic Consulting and celebrate the best curry houses and chefs across the country.

A ceremony was held on Monday (August 14) with more than 400 guests flocking to the Holiday Inn in Birmingham for the occasion.

A spokesperson for the awards said: “It has been an unforgettable night, filled with incredible food, vibrant energy, and passionate conversations.

“We have celebrated the finest in the English curry scene, recognising the creativity, innovation, and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved cuisine.

Alessi is no stranger to success at the English Curry Awards, having picked up the Critic’s Choice Restaurant of the Year award at the 2022 event.

The year before that, Alessi was crowned the Most Wanted Restaurant of the Year in the West Midlands.

By car, Alessi is just 34 minutes from the centre of Northwich and less than half an hour for those travelling from Winsford and Middlewich.
