A HOTEL has hit the market after being saved by residents.
The Kinderton in Middlewich has gone up for sale, priced at £1.6 million.
Shaun Ellison bought the property just over five years ago in order to stop it from being sold off to developers.
He says it was always meant to be a short-term project and feels that now is the right time to find the business a new owner.
Shaun said: “The project was never a long term one, being local residents, our priority was to save the venue and turn it into a valuable asset which we hope we have done, the hotel has never been busier, and we have become an established venue for both private events and live entertainment.
“We have been able to create a fantastic management team along with a group of dedicated staff who have all contributed to a thriving and growing business.
“We feel now is the right time to look to pass the baton on to new owners who will continue to share our passion and look to further enhance what we have been able to create in a relatively short period of time.
“It will be business as usual throughout this process with lots of events planned over the forthcoming months, we couldn’t have done this without the local community, so their support has always been greatly appreciated.”

Reflecting on when he purchased it, Shaun added: “We took over The Kinderton nearly five and half years ago now, those at the time may recall that it was in the process of being sold for development but hit a last-minute snag, there was a small window of opportunity to purchase the site with the main aim of keeping it open, and then transforming it into a sustainable business moving forward.
“A lot has happened since, with no hospitality experience we had to learn quickly, we undertook a full refurbishment of the hotel and bar/restaurant area followed by the development of the outdoor space and then of course we had the impact of COVID-19 to deal with!”
Located on Kinderton Street, the hotel recently underwent a refurbishment and has 10 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, and a large beer garden complete with playground.
According to Colliers International, the firm handling the sale, the hotel has a net turnover in excess of £1.1 million.
The property consultants say there is planning permission for a "partly glazed and retractable allweather shelter" where a temporary marquee currently stands.
They also state that the land included in the sale would be "ideal" for development for other acommodation such as glamping pods.
