A VILLAGE pub is up for sale after closing earlier this year.

The Bulls Head has been listed on Rightmove, marketed by estate agents Sidney Phillips.

Located just outside Tarporley, the pub shut down in June after the managers took over the George and Dragon in Tarvin.

“We sit here writing this post with the heaviest of hearts and a tear or two in our eyes,” read a post on the pub’s Facebook page on June 8.

“We never once took on the George to shut the Bull but kitchen staffing issues caused us massive headaches and kept us from working at The Bull and unfortunately it’s become increasingly impossible to run two pubs.

“The Bull needs a lot of work and time spent on it and unfortunately we just can’t do it, even if we could we’d be back in the same place of running two pubs.

“I’m confident once all work is complete it can get back to being a great place and I’m confident you locals will support the new landlords.”

The Bulls Head is open to offers in excess of £400,000.

Sitting on a 0.67 acre plot, the pub has 110 covers inside and a further 100 in the garden, as well as a six-bedroom owners accommodation.

However, Sidney Phillips believe there is potential to change the use of the property.

The listing reads: “The Bulls Head is currently closed but it previously traded as a food-led public house, enjoying custom from both locals and passers-by due to its prominent roadside position on the A51.

“No trade accounts are available and any prospective purchasers must make their own assumptions as to the potential trade and profits this outlet can enjoy.

“The property also offers scope for change of use or further development, taking advantage of its generous plot size, subject to planning permission.”
