A GANG of teenagers has been charged after a 'sickening' attack.

Cheshire Police officers in Winsford have been investigating after being made aware of a video showing an attack on a young boy.

The video shows the victim being repeatedly kicked and punched by a group of youths, with a number of others watching on - laughing, filming and doing nothing to help.

Now, three boys from Winsford, aged 14, 15 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with a string of offences and will appear at court next month.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “The video of the attack was sickening to watch, and it is pure luck that the victim didn't receive more serious injuries.

“There is no place in Winsford for this type of behaviour, and we will always take action if there is sufficient evidence to identify those responsible.

“Parents should take the opportunity to speak to their children about the likely consequences of their actions if they become involved in crime."

Police were first made aware of the video on March 24, with Winsford BEAT officers tasked with investigating the attack.

The suspects were eventually identified, arrested and interviewed under caution at Middlewich Custody Suite, where their parents/guardians acted as appropriate adults.

“The video was shown during interview, and so the parents are under no illusion as to what their children have been involved in,” the Cheshire Police spokesperson added.

The three suspects were charged on Wednesday (April 24).

They have been granted bail and will appear at Crewe Youth Court on May 23.
