Older brother of Witton front runner Rod, Ben made one substitute appearance under Jim Vince last season before signing a deal this summer.

Started his career at Manchester United in the same Youth Cup-winning team as the likes of David Beckham and Paul Scholes, winger Thornley made 13 first team appearances at Old Trafford before moving to Huddersfield Town for a six-figure sum.

He played more than 100 times for the Yorkshire club ahead of a 16-month spell in Scotland with Aberdeen.

His return south of the border took in brief stops at Blackpool, Bury and Halifax Town.

Now running his own coaching school in Cheshire, Thornley is set to line up in the same team as his brother for the first time in their careers this season.
