I WOULD like to thank all those who voted over the last month to allow me to serve for another term on Middlewich Town Council. I will do whatever is within my power to enhance the services, infrastructure and historic and cultural heritage that help to make Middlewich such a wonderful place to live and bring up children.

MY inspiration in the 80s to first stand for election for Boughton Ward came from Alderman Fred Fazey, the man who brought comprehensive education to Chester and who from his home with Mavis in Kingsley Road became my mentor. After a hard fought campaign the voters gave me a vote of confidence and a majority of 100.

Last Thursday in a reformed, larger Boughton Ward, they renewed that trust giving me a majority of over 200 and continuing an unbroken 24-year line of Labour representation in Boughton. This combined, with Labour’s record increase in seats on the new Cheshire West and Chester Council from 13 to 32 made May 5 truly a date to remember.

Sincere thanks to those who voted for me, and to my agent Chris Fortune. Together with my Labour team I will do my best to deliver.

As newly elected Labour councillors for the new Northwich wards of Witton and Rudheath, and Winnington and Castle, we will be seeking a fair deal for the people of Northwich. The significant number of Labour gains on the CWAC council means that we will ensure that your voice is heard. On the doorstep, residents have been telling us that what they are most concerned about is the general decline of the town.

ON behalf of all the Conservative candidates standing in the recent elections on May 5 for CWAC I am writing to thank residents for the tremendous support we received. Gaining over 45 per cent of the votes cast, we have a solid working majority to implement the exciting and ambitious programme we have planned for the next four years.

This includes continuing the downward pressure of the costs of the council by reducing waste, bureaucracy and inefficient practices, improving services and delivering increasing value for money. This will enable the Conservative run council to keep council tax increases below inflation and to invest in delivering first class facilities that you, our residents, tell us you want to see your council deliver.

This includes investment in new high schools in Winsford and Ellesmere Port, sports and cultural facilities in Northwich, Ellesmere Port and Chester, removing old and dilapidated school mobile buildings and building excellent facilities for the elderly who need care and who should retain their dignity as they age.

We also have a 10-year programme to invest an additional £10m/year to catch up on the backlog of road maintenance we inherited and re-introduce weekly collections of waste in the areas of Winsford, Northwich, Neston and Ellesmere Port to further increase our recycling rates and save over £1.5m/year.

The Conservative run council is ambitious and is determined to deliver on our promises. We are a council for all our residents and we look forward to a busy four years.

I AM writing to thank all of our members and supporters that voted Conservative in the local elections.

The results within Winsford were remarkable, the town had a fantastic turnout, and we secured the No to AV result with a whopping 72 per cent of CWAC electors voting No at the ballot boxes.

We have gained one Conservative CWAC and two Conservative Winsford town councillors. This means that we are now in a position to start to make a difference within the town, and the hard work really begins today! We now have three fantastic representatives that will fight for services and financial support for the town. I think that it is to the advantage of the townspeople to have representatives who will work with the ruling party to ensure that Winsford’s views are given full consideration. Winsford needs positive representation!

We are delighted with the result and are already making plans! As we said before the elections we want to work with you and for you.

I’d like to thank all of the people involved in the election process, the counters, tellers, candidates and anybody else who gave their time (and shoe leather!) The next four years should prove to be exiting as we have so many new faces and fresh ideas, coupled with energy and enthusiasm!

I WOULD like to thank the people of Middlewich who kindly voted me back onto Cheshire East Council at the local election. May I and assure them of my absolute commitment to continuing to act in the best interests of our fine community. In the eight years in which I have been honoured to represent the town at Cheshire East level, I have always sought to do my best to act on all issues brought to my attention by residents and this will most certainly continue to be the case. Sadly there are many subject areas where change cannot happen simply through discussing issues with Officers, due to what may be constitutionally or legislatively preventive and which may require policy revision. This requires a much different and far more detailed approach and this is a point which is all too often lost on certain individuals who would seem to advocate change at the snap of their fingers. My promise to the people of Middlewich is to continue to be active in the community, working with and alongside committees and voluntary groups as I have always done and to be readily accountable and transparent in all that I do. I am only too conscious of the fact that the electorate of the town has put its faith in local, non-political independents to represent it for a third term of office (fourth, if we count the transition from Congleton borough to Cheshire East via the shadow council elections of 2008) and I guarantee that I will do my utmost to repay such loyalty and trust. Thank you, Middlewich, once again!
