Match Pointers
1874 NORTHWICH make their debut in the FA Vase first round against opponents they defeated twice in the North West Counties League last season.
Ian Street’s men play a third successive tie on home turf, once more with guests who play at a lower level.
The hosts will be forced to make at least two changes to the side that squeezed past Alsager Town in midweek, with midfield duo Neil Chappell (suspended) and Kurtis Gill (injured) both ruled out.
Lee Jones is in contention for a return.
The hosts hope to extend an unbeaten sequence in league and cup to 13 matches, a run that has included a dozen wins.
Ashton lost narrowly on their visit to Barton Stadium last term, sank only by Tom Peers’ late winner for 1874.
They have won both ties to date on the road, but have lost six of seven games away from home in Division One this term.
The other ended all square.
Ashton have never progressed beyond the first round, bowing out at this stage against Hallam – a side they saw off in the second qualifying round last time out – in 2007.
