A RACE to win the Northwich and District League title appears to have only two teams after pacesetters Gladstone C and Rudheath won last Wednesday.

The reigning champions, boosted by maximum breaks for Pat Murray and Lewis Webber, proved too strong for Castle Private B.

Gladstone C increased their lead at the table’s summit to eight points after easing to victory against Gladstone A, leaving them as the only side across all three divisions to still boast an unblemished record.

They host Rudheath tomorrow, Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Owley Wood A squeezed past Barn Owl C by the odd frame while Gladstone B made it back-to-back when Dave Swindley won a decider against The Elms.

Captain Dave Cain did the same for Castle Private A in a close encounter with Bowling Green.

Barn Owl B became the first side this season to beat Green Dragon A in Division Two, a 5-2 victory closing the gap to first place.

A total of eight points separates the top five teams with two of those, Greenbank A and Chapels, meeting in Weaverham.

The visitors left with a 5-2 success.

Dalton Parker’s eight-ball break was a highlight of The Lion A’s victory against Greenbank C, while Wheatsheaf ended a seven-match losing sequence by beating Moulton Legion.

Nectar’s climbed to second spot in Division Three following a 6-1 success against previous incumbents Greenbank B.

Leaders Barn Owl E have a seven-point advantage over their closest rivals, easing past Davenham this time around.

The Lion B, in fourth, registered a fourth successive win after Anthony Dale’s maximum helped them to a whitewash of Greenbank D.

Blue Barrel B and Green Dragon B remain in the bottom two after losing to Witton Chimes B and Barn Owl A respectively.
