DAVE Fearon was fastest of Weaver Valley Cycling Club’s contingent at Stone Wheelers’ 25 on Saturday, completing the course in 58:05 to finish 42nd overall.
Jim Duffy, in 58:16, was close behind him.
William Campbell, Neil Drummond, Colin Carthy and Caroline Fearon competed too, while Charles Taylor (South Pennine RC) took first place in 51:13.
Three Weaver Valley riders – Alan Kemp, Kevan Underhill and Graham Gregory – battled for honours in the men’s over 55s age category during the fourth round of The League International’s Cheshire Road Race Series last Tuesday.
Kemp joined a large group that moved clear of the main bunch, but could not stay with two rivals who rode clear in the second lap.
He missed out on a final placing, while his clubmates finished further back.
Among the over 40s men, Julian Perrett and Jim Duffy could not make an impression in a sprint to the line after earlier attempting to form a two-man breakaway.
